Adolf Hitler was by far the most infamous leader of WWII. He
first served as Germanys Chancellor from 1933 to 1944. He then served as the
Fuhrer of Germany until his suicide on April 30, 1945. Hitler was famous for
his aggressive foreign policy that ultimately led to WWII. Under
Hitler Germany became a Fascist state, Germany strictly followed anti-Semitism
policies that led to the Holocaust.
Benito Mussolini was an Italian leader of the National Fascist Party. He served
as Italy’s Prime Minister from 1922-1943.
General Hideki Tojo was the wartime leader of Japan. He was known in the imperial army as “Razor Tojo” because
of his intense attention to detail and his bureaucratic efficiency. Tojo was
promoted to major general in 1934, and was appointed commander of the IJA
24th Infantry Brigade later that year. He rose to Prime Minister in
1940. He stood politically as militarist, fascist, and nationalist.
Joseph Stalin was the totalitarian dictator of the USSR
from 1929-1953. During his impressive and brutal reign, he became known for his
strategy of terror. Under his rule, millions of USSR citizens died in forced
labor camps. Stalin had alliances with Britain and the United States during
WWII. The Soviet Union was quick to initiate the de-Stalinization process after
his death.
